Our Mission

Catholic Charities of Chenango County is part of a seven county network of Catholic Charities in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse. Our mission:

Catholic Charities of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse, N.Y. is dedicated to caring for those in need while promoting human development, collaboration, and the elimination of poverty and injustice.

We strive to empower those served to transform their lives in the spirit of God’s love and compassion.

Guided by this mission and through the work of dedicated staff we serve the neediest and most vulnerable in our county. Our programs seek to advocate for individuals affected by issues of poverty, abuse, and mental health needs. We seek to promote justice for the underserved and to effect change in our society to give a voice to those that have gone unheard.

  • Do your services take place only in Norwich??

Our main office location in Norwich is home to many of our core services, and those seeking our assistance will find a private, client-centered atmosphere there. Several of our other program locations are in Norwich, such as our Child Advocacy Center and Roots and Wings. Many of our programs do offer outreach services in the form of home visits, off-site meetings, educational programs, and school-based services. Please contact our office for more information.

  • What kinds of volunteer activites can I get involved with at your agency??

Many of our programs depend on volunteers to provide services on a continuous basis. Some programs, like the Roots and Wings program, need volunteers to assist at our self-help center. For more information on volunteering, please call us at 607-334-8244 or visit our What You Can Do section.

  • How can I donate to the agency and how are donations used??

Our agency depends on the generous support of community members to bring services to those in need and to fulfill our mission. Donations are used to support program services in combination with other state and local funds to maintain long-term programming. Those seeking to donate can specify the program or programs they wish to support financially, or can donate funds to the agency to be used where they are most needed.
